Gladiolus

The Gladiolus is commonly referred to as the Sword Lily and is native to the continents of Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean. Having 260 different varieties, of which 250 are native to Africa, these are perennials that thrive in harsh tropical temperate environments. Colors vary, and include pink, red, light purple with white, white, cream, orange and red. This flower is commonly used as a food plant by a variety of different insect species and as a result of scientific experimentation, come in a wide variety of different hybrid flowers.
