Gerbera
The Gerbera flower is an ornamental plant that is part of the sunflower family of plants. Having around 30 or so different varieties, it is native to the continents of South America, Africa, and the tropical areas of Asia. The colors of these varieties of flowers are yellow, orange,, white, pink and red. Even though it looks like it is only one flower, this is a case not to judge a flower by a superficial glance, as this flower is not one but many hundreds of individual flowers. Each of these individual flowers range from 7 cm to 12 cm. This flower has been widely used and is popular as both a decorative garden flower or in a vase full of cut flowers. This flower is also used in the scientific study of flower formation, and is the fifth most popular cut flower in the world. Another interesting fact about this flower is of its resistance to dear and other furry woodland creatures.Kingdom: Plantae Order: Asterales Family: Asteraceae Subfamily: Mutisioideae Tribe: Mutisieae Genus: Gerbera Click Here to go to Gerbera Home
