Cherry Blossom

The Cherry Blossom is also known as the Japanese Kanji, as well as the Japanese Flowering Cherry. These plants come from Japan, Korea, and China, and have over 200 different varieties. A popular Asian custom is called Flower Viewing, where people gather and celebrate under the flower blossoms. In China, the plum tree was highly favored, however in Japan, this flower blossom has been highly favored since the ninth century. In Japan there are flower viewing parties. The blooming for this flower begins around January in Japan and reaches Tokyo around the end of March or beginning of April. Since the school year in Japan begins in April, many parts of Japan have the first day of work or school coincide with the season.
