Carnation

The Carnation is a flower that is originally from the Mediterranean, and is a perennial plant which is herbaceous, producing grey green to blue green leaves and is around 15 cm in length. The colors of this flower range from red, white, yellow and even green. When growing this flower it is helpful to know to keep it in well drained slightly alkaline soil in full sunlight. This flower is very popular on Holidays and Special Occasions, in particular on Mother’s Day and Weddings. It is also the Ohio State Flower as well as the national flower of the country of Spain, not to mention this flower is also the birth flower for people born in the month of January. However, in France, the view on this flower is far from good, as in French culture, this flower represents misfortune as well as bad luck.
