Calla Lily

The Calla Lily has been used in many paintings by a variety of different artists. This flower grows to around 1½ meters tall and comes in a variety of different colors including white, yellow and pink. However much should be placed when handling this flower due to the fact that it is poisonous. The reason for this is the presence of calcium oxalate. However, the leaves of this plant are sometimes cooked and eaten. Native to Southern Africa, this flower loves to grow in marshy areas and the only reason that it would become deciduous is when water is in scarce supply. This plant is very strong and can grow in just about any soil and is regarded as a weed in much of the world.
